Christian Tamburr is a multi-instrumentalist, whose instrument of choice is the vibraphone. He was our TCJS scholarship winner in 1999 and has gone on to a remakable professional career. At 25, Christian has worked with many jazz legends including Ira Sullivan, Clark Terry, James Moody, Benny Green, Bucky Pizzarelli and Nicholas Payton, to name a few. He has performed as a guest artist with Dave Brubeck, as solo percussionist with Michael Feinstein, opened for Harry Connick, Jr. and is currently the pianist for Julio Iglesias with whom he has just completed an international tour. When Christian was 13 years old, he met Ira Sullivan and they've often played together ever since. Ira, of course, is a jazz legend. Also a multi-instrumentalist, he excels at many instruments - including trumpet, flugelhorn, flute and alto, tenor and soprano saxes. His amazing technique has been recognized by other musicians; Miles Davis was a Sullivan fan. Art Farmer hired Ira to be a Jazz Messenger and Pat Metheny's band attended one of Ira's summer jazz camps. |

Jeff and Dirty Martini began playing bossa novas a few years ago when they found out that they all enjoyed this music which was so full of passion and had such a lyrical quality. Bossa nova loosely translated means "new flair". Jeff Rupert enjoys a career as a freelance tenor saxophonist, composer and arranger. His numerous recordings include dates with Maynard Ferguson, Diane Schuur, Mel Torme, Benny Carter and, of course, with Dirty Martini. To quote Maynard, "From the moment I heard Jeff Rupert with my band I considered him one of the great jazz players of today." His tenor sound has been compared to that of the great Stan Getz. The group also includes Chuck Arcard, on bass; Keith Wilson, drums; Chris Rottmayer, drums; and Michelle Amato, vocals. Michelle recorded two cuts on Jeff Rupert + Dirty Martini's debut CD, "Save Your Love for Me," including the title track.

Jim Roberts worked for 20 years in New York City as a top professional jazz pianist. In the book "Jazz Piano, a Jazz History," Dr. Billy Taylor (a leading pianist in his own right) thought enought of Jim's playing to include him in his list of mainstream keyboard influences for the late 1970's. While in New York he studied with Sir Roland Hanna and has appeared on more than thirty recordings. Jim has recorded will Illinois Jacquet, Howard McGhee, Frank Wess, Charlie Rouse, Ron Carter and the Ink Spots, among others. He has appeared on NBC's Today Show, ABC's Good Morning America, the PBS series, Jazz Adventure, and currently performs with his Saxtet as well as with Walt Disney Productions in Florida. The Jim Roberts Saxtet includes the following musicians: Eddie Marshall, alto and tenor saxes, and flute; David MacKenzie, alto and tenor saxes, bass sax and flute; Rex Wertz, alto and tenor saxes and flute, Bob Burns, bass; and Ed Metz Jr., drums.

Bill Allred's Classic Jazz Band started essentially as a "kicks" band, collecting and playing the arrangements of Matty Matlock and Billy Maxted. The band went to a few jazz festivals and soon found there was a real market for the "little big band" type of sound. That was 17 years and 12 recordings ago. Going to a Classic Jazz Band set is like going to a symposium on the history of jazz. You are apt to hear anything from Jelly Roll Morton to Count Basie and all the stops in-between. The group features leader and trombonist Bill Allred. Bill has recorded and traveled with the likes of Wild Bill Davidson, Dick Hyman, Bob Wilbur, Warren and Allen Vache and Ralph Sutton. He maintains a full schedule of recording and touring the U.S. and Europe. Also in the band are Terry Myers, reeds; Charlie Bertini, trumpet; Bob Pickwood, trumpet and vocals; Herb Bruce, trombone; Jeff Phillips, piano; Jay Mueller, bass; and David Pruyn, drums.
